Open Question: Have any of you read this story about Obama? This is worth reading!?

Obama 'Lying' About Muslim Past, Expert Says Thursday, October 9, 2008 12:19 PM By: David A. Patten Sen. Barack Obama “is lying” when he insists that he has never prayed in a mosque and was never a Muslim, a prominent Middle East expert and journalist says. Daniel Pipes, founder of the Middle East Forum think tank, says he fully accepts that Obama is a Christian now. But there is strong evidence that Obama received a Muslim upbringing during his years in Indonesia, Pipes said. “It’s fine with me that he was a Muslim and a convert to Christianity,” Pipes told Newsmax. Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal “is a convert from Hinduism. I have no problem with his conversion. What I have a problem with is that he’s lying” when he says he was never a Muslim. Newsmax asked whether Pipes is alleging outright that Obama has lied about having a Muslim upbringing. Pipes’ response: “The evidence suggests to me that he is lying, yes.” Pipes told Newsmax, “It would start with the fact that his father was a Muslim — granted, not a practicing Muslim, but in the Muslim world, if your father is a Muslim, you’re a Muslim. His father named him Hussein, which is a name only given to Muslim babies. He went with his stepfather to a mosque. They celebrated certain Muslim holidays at the mosque together. He had knowledge of the Koran. He had knowledge of Muslim prayers. You put all this together, he was a Muslim.” Pipes contends that a Nov. 12 post on Obama’s Web site headlined, "Barack Obama Is Not and Has Never Been a Muslim," stated: "Obama never prayed in a mosque. He has never been a Muslim, was not raised a Muslim, and is a committed Christian." Today, that post bears the same headline, but does not include an assertion that Obama “never prayed in a mosque” and “has never been a Muslim, was not raised a Muslim.” The page now bears a quote Obama made during the Jan. 15 debate on MSNBC: “In the Internet age, there are going to be lies that are spread all over the place. I have been victimized by these lies. Fortunately, the American people are, I think, smarter than folks give them credit for.” The current post, which includes links intended to debunk any Muslim connection, is headlined “Obama Has Never Been A Muslim, And Is a Committed Christian”. Several media outlets, including the Chicago Tribune and the Los Angeles Times, have reported on Obama’s schooling in Indonesia, where he lived from 1967 to 1971, which included Muslim religious studies. It is known, for example, that Obama’s designation as a Muslim while attending a Catholic school may have simply reflected the fact that his stepfather, Lolo Soetoro, was Muslim. Still, Obama was grouped with Muslim students at the school and engaged in weekly religious studies, including studying the Koran and learning Muslim prayers. In 1970, Obama’s family moved and he was enrolled in a public school where children such as Obama who were identified as Muslim spent two hours a week studying Islam. [Editor's Note: Read the Los Angeles Times report on Obama's Muslim upbringing -- Click Here Now.] A March 2007 Chicago Tribune article by Kim Barker, which stated several accounts had “distorted the reality” of Obama’s years in Indonesia, reported that he did irregularly attend Muslim prayer services at the local mosque. Obama’s third-grade teacher at the Catholic school, Fermina Katarina Sinaga, told Barker that Obama accompanied his stepfather to pray at the mosque, doing so “rarely.” Pipes said Barker’s story bolsters his position that Obama was raised as a Muslim while he lived in Indonesia. His accounts of Obama’s upbringing have received a “very severe reaction from the left” and threats from some Muslims, he said. “The Islamists murmur and threaten,” Pipes said, declining to specify the threats he has received. Pipes sees a whopping double standard in how the mainstream media has reported on Obama’s past. “It’s been quite fascinating to watch the careful picking over of Sarah Palin’s record, down to her library policies as mayor of Wasilla, and her possible false pregnancies, and so forth, an analysis that involved excruciating details in her case.” He contrasts that to the “the general pass” the media has given Obama, whether over his career in the Illinois Senate, the Annenberg library papers, or his upbringing in Jakarta. Pipes said his reports have “simply been dismissed as untrue without any facts to counter it.” The McCain campaign “has been very cautious about looking into Barack Obama at all,” said Pipes, adding that the GOP has demonstrated a general reluctance to raise questions about Obama’s past. Pipes has posted four articles on his Web site, “DanielPipes.org”, defending his view that Obama was a Muslim. The articles include the assertion that “for some years (Obama) had a reasonably Muslim upbringing under the auspices of his Indonesian stepfather.” As a measure of the interest in Obama’s backgro Forget War- That's the problem. Who is he? He lies so much...

To take a short cut time, I will narrate with title : “HOLIDAY in RAMADHAN” The first fasting day, certainly we didn`t accustom controll oneself from all foods, drinks, and carnal desiress during less than 14 hours. At that moment, my activities were sleeping and browsing internet only to eliminated hungry and very thirsty feeling. At the early fasting of day first day until third days, I was in Lhokseumawe. And at night fasting to fourth, my family and I went to Medan. At that moment, we sahur in the car and I sahur without drank milk so that I weak on day time . At sixth fasting day, I broke fasted outside with my cousins because it was Sunday night. I didn`t think had the fifteenth fasting day. My family and I returned to Lhokseumawe. When I was in Lhokseumawe I did English homework, LKS Indonesian, LKS Physics and as for agenda of Ramadhan which done every day. After some days in Lhokseumawe, my mother and Ireturned to Medan by bus. Only one night in Medan, I returned again to Lhokseumawe with my mother, my brother, and my cousin. In Lhokseumawe, I did the homework which not ready to. Some days later, I didn`t think had Saturday. Because, four days from that time was Idul Fitri day hence me and my family went to Medan. I celebrated Idul Fitri day in Medan, because big family from My father were in Medan. Having arrived at Medan, I helped my mother made cake and lontong forIdul Fitri day. I didn`t think, I have passed by month Ramadhan and came in contact with 1 Syawal 1429 H. Alhamdulillah, I fasted for a whole month while tarawih only several times. The morning in Idul Fitri day, me and my family went to the prayed Idul Fitri in field Comp.Citra Garden, Medan. The prayed is quickened 15 minutes because the drizzle more become heavy. After the prayed Idul Fitri, I apologized to my mother, my father, my brother, and my sister. After that, we went to my uncle`s house for silahturrahmi. The second of Idul Fitri day, me and my family went to Binjai for silahturrahmi with my grand mother`s sister`s family. The third of Idul Fitri day, me and my family went to Lubuk Pakam for silahturrahmi too. The fifth of Idul fitri day was the last holiday. That`s why me and my family returned to Lhokseumawe. Because on the following day I had to go back to school, hence I prepared the uniform, the lesson books, and the school supplies.

Open Question: why can't we use our own resources with out someone bitching.?

Fri, 2008-10-10 05:30
PART 1. Is it funny to anyone else how when ever we try to mine our own resources, or use our own innovation, some nut job comes around and sues the people who try to make our world better. We could mine our own minerals, our own energy and power our nation, but instead we import much of what we already have from nations who hate us, who do a dirtier job and who have more corruption and war and we make them wealthier for it, while our country slips in to a recession unlike any thing we have experienced in many generations. The worst part is our government is trying to use money we don't have to stimulate our economy instead of looking for ways to put the US economy back on the map. PART 2 is for the environmental wackos. PLEASE, before you protest our country for trying to enhance the average Americana's life who cares more about their wallet than freaking global warming and the depletion of ozone layer, ask your self where the shoes on your feet and the clothes on your back come from. How about the house you live in, or the batteries that aid in running your earth friendly car. Research the mines where those batteries come from. Research the lifestyle of Nancy pelosi and Al Gore. Ask why they don't live in a yert, grow their own organic food and make their own clothes from a regional cotton farm and why they don't drive scooters to work before you protest one more American project that would better the country you live in. If you still feel the need to protest, go to China, Iraq, Iran, Thailand, or Indonesia and protest them. Ask why that can't do it as cleanly as we could. See if you come back with your tong, much less at all. Part 3 Taxing the wealthy. Have you ever asked an American business owner why they chose to contract one of their inventions over there rather than at home. When they do, they create some middle class jobs over seas and bring the profit home to America. We should tax the hell out of them. If they had a place in America where their corporations could exist with little Taxation, would they be more deserving of their wealth if they created higher paying jobs here? Would you pay the made in America Preimum for the betterment of our country rather than higher taxes. How about only taxing the hell out of those who chose to do business outside of the US and imposing a small tax on those who do business in the US and a fair even tax on the Wealthy CEO's of American businesses who create middle class jobs here. Do they deserve a reward for doing the right thing by employing Americans? Thanks for reading. Sincerely, Fed up with upper middle class hippies who live in the Suburbs, The republicans who's free trade policies make the wealthy clueless, while shrinking the middle class and the hipocrat democrats who fly private jets and Dig on America while there visiting the EU countries.

Open Question: Should I fly to Bali for wedding or stay home?

Fri, 2008-10-10 02:49
I'm invited to my friend's wedding, and it's in Bali, Indonesia. I'd like to go but I'm very self-conscious about how much I exacerbate global warming via my day-to-day personal choices. Afraid that if I buy a flight I'll be racked with guilt. So, in terms of global-warming morality, should I take this 15-hour-plus flight to attend the wedding?

Resolved Question: Would You Really Vote For This Man?

Thu, 2008-10-09 22:14
Born to a biracial couple. Raised by parents and grandparents of modest means all over the U.S. and Indonesia. Educated in Ivy League Schools. Traveled abroad as a young adult. Now we have a biracial young man raised by people of modest means[middle america] well educated and he's seen a little of the world. Now he moves to an intercity neighborhood to work with those who are less privileged. Did he tell them Middle America is not your enemy. Did he tell them there are programs out there for you. Programs that will help you with housing, education childcare and food for your family. Did he tell them there are places that gangs don't run the streets. Places they could walk safely in the parks. Or did he tell them lets organize here stay right here in the social experiment that has trapped you and your family for generations. With all his education not know or did he just not tell. The only difference between a low income and middle income american is [one year] at one of those hardworking middle class jobs. Is that the kind of change y'all talking about?????????? There is no racist comment here.
